Dr. J. Lee Amason, Jr. DMD, P.C.

Dr. Amason began his education by studying Biology at Valdosta State University. He then continued on to Medical College of Georgia where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

When it comes to education, some dentists stop with Dental School, but not Dr. Amason. Dental School teaches dentists to fix broken teeth. He wanted to learn how to restore a person to complete dental health. So he looked for the most prestigious center for continuing dental education in the world. In 1987, he made his way to Key Biscayne, Florida to attend the L.D. Pankey Institute. At the Pankey Institute, the emphasis is on the patient, not just on the tooth. Here Dr. Amason became a master in the treatment of TMJ (jaw joints) muscles, bones, and teeth that people use when they chew, talk and smile. Most importantly, he learned that beneath all those physical mechanics, there is a real person with real fears and real needs.

He brought this philosophy to Kennesaw, Georgia, where he has been putting it to practice since 1986. Dr. Amason's education does not stop at the Pankey Institute. Dr. Amason averages more than one hundred hours of continuing education every year at the Pete Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies and at the LSU Dental School Continuing Education Program. Dr. Amason chooses to do this to stay on top of the newest solutions for your dental needs.

During early childhood it was discovered that Dr. Amason had inherited the bleeding disorder called Hemophilia. Dr. Amason has recently become affiliated with Hemophilia of Georgia. This organization provides comprehensive services and support for Georgians who have inherited this bleeding disorder. For more information on this organization you can visit their website www.hog.org. Dr. Amason learned that there are many people out there that cannot find a dentist willing treat patients with Hemophilia. All hemophiliac patients that Dr. Amason treats will receive a 50% discount on services.

In his free time, Dr. Amason enjoys anything outdoors. He is an avid health and fitness enthusiast and loves the outdoors. Hiking, skiing, bicycling and rock climbing are just a few of the many things he loves to do. His wife Tia and daughter Cilia usually join him for many of his adventures.
